Water pressurisation equipment, pressure booster setsOverview
The AquaTech Pressmain range of quality-assured cold-water pressure booster sets is designed to increase the pressure of cold-water services within a building; where, for example, the mains water pressure is insufficient to feed rooftop storage tanks, or where water is stored at low level and needs to be distributed to the upper floors of a building.
The company’s multiple-pump Micromatic HM units are arranged for operation as duty and standby.
The Aquamatic BTE range can feature from 1 to 8 pumps, all assembled on a common base frame, with a microprocessor control panel and all necessary valves and fittings to ensure ease of installation and efficient and reliable operation.
Composition and manufacture
Pumps:
Pump arrangements may be fabricated featuring either end-suction or vertical multi-stage design, and fixed or variable-speed inverter-motor control.
End-suction pumps and vertical multi-stage pumps are quiet running, with stainless-steel internal components, and WRAS approved. Electric motors are totally enclosed fan ventilated (TEFV) type with Class F insulation, Class B temperature rise, protected to IP55, with typical efficiency class EFF2.
Pipework:
Manifolds are fabricated in copper-tube to BS EN1057 including isolating valves on each pump suction and isolating/non-return valves on each pump discharge.
Galvanised, ABS, PVC-U and stainless steel in both 304 and 316 standards are available on request.
Flexible connections:
Made from EPDM rubber and suitable for potable water applications, the spherical-bellows flexible-coupling joint will absorb pipe movements, isolate vibration, reduce system noise and protect plant against start-up surge forces. Gaskets are not required and the joints are easily and speedily installed.
Anti-vibration mountings:
When fitted, the turret-type mount will isolate the pump package from the ground or floor-mounting surface. The mounting will arrest and reduce pump-rotation starting inertia and associated vibration being transmitted through the ground or floor-mounting surface, which could potentially cause a noise problem.
Operation and control
Typical control-panel specification for Aquamatic range of pump sets:
Automatic control is achieved by the AquaTech 2000Plus microcontroller for long-term reliability and accurate pressure measurement by 392 transducer. Features include:
- automatic alternation of all pumps to even wear, with adjustable pump running time
- sequential pump starting to avoid overloading the electric supply
- hand/off/auto switches for each pump on the panel fascia
- motor contactors and overload protection
- electronic low-water protection, interlocked door isolator, RS232/485 serial communication port
- data logging function; indicators for pumps run, hand, off and auto
- user-friendly fascia-mounted keypad for entering/retrieving data and system parameters, with illuminated 2-line LCD display for pressure, faults and information. Also indicating power on, system working pressure, system status, low or high water level in feed tank (where fitted), low system pressure, high system pressure, pump hours run, transducer failed and service reminder.
Included with the microcontroller is an enhanced BMS package which gives 7 volt free-relay outputs for high pressure, low pressure, high/low water-pump failed, transducer failed, common warning and system healthy. Pump tripped lights and pump failed on the panel fascia, in addition to other customising features, enable the units to be tailored to exact specification.
The control equipment comes complete with all the necessary terminals, labels and interconnections, enclosed in a sheet-steel, dust and damp-proof housing with a lockable door to IP55.
The AquaTech 2020plus enhanced micro software also features the RE-PRESS power restoration electronic safety system, offering the end user a controlled system refill following electrical supply failure.
In addition to the standard features the company can provide, and is not limited to, the following options: emergency stop button, pump-run volt-free contacts, individual pump isolators, anti-condensation panel heater, volt meter and switch, 4 to 20ma pressure output. Form 2 and Form 4 compartmented control-panel systems can also be accommodated.
