Boilers, industrial/commercial, hot water, dual gas/oil-firedR-Series condensing boilers using conventional and renewable fuels
Atlantic’s product range includes the R-Series, a dual fuel, year-round maximum condensing boiler, which can burn rapeseed oil, natural gas, Class D oil, LPG or kerosene in a clean manner and within EU NOx emission standards. Future development will include vegetable and waste oil. For all these fuels, efficiencies exceed 92% GCV and can rise up to 99.5% GCV.
Operation
The R-Series has two distinct heat exchangers, the first in high-quality steel, and the second in high-grade plastic. The flue gases leave the first heat exchanger at temperatures below 90ºC, and are then extracted from the second heat exchanger at temperatures below 50ºC. The introduction of combustion air through the condensing exchanger lowers the flue-gas temperature below dewpoint and, therefore, there is no need for return water temperature to be low. The boiler will condense to its maximum efficiency, even at 82ºC flow and 71ºC return. For combustion air at inlet temperatures below 30°C, efficiencies always exceed 92%. These conditions apply throughout the year in the UK.
Coverage
R-Series: 10 to 630kW, various oils and gaseous fuels.
Pumps and controls
Each boiler has its own header with in-built shunt pump. This guarantees temperature protection and minimum water flow. Each boiler has in-built control for three systems, for example: weather compensated radiators, underfloor heating and domestic hot water.
Flues
R-Series boilers can have either balanced or conventional flues for both oil and gas models. The R-Series boiler flue requirements are economic, with low material and labour costs compared to other boilers. As the flue gas exit temperature is always low, the volume of the gases is greatly reduced throughout the year. In addition, the R-Series boiler has a bank of variable speed flue-gas extract fans, which operate comfortably at low temperatures. The fans permit extensive vertical and horizontal flue ducts to be manufactured in low-cost, carefully chosen plastic materials. Also, the fan’s variable speed control minimises the energy consumed in expelling the flue gases.
Composition and manufacture
The R-Series is manufactured from steel and high-grade plastic. It conforms to ISO 9001:2000, as well as EU Directives and EN Norms.
Technical data
Depending on the model, outputs range from 10 to 630kW.
Accreditation
The R-Series was tested and approved in 2000 to the Boiler Efficiency Regulations 1993, and was the first boiler of this type to be approved. All boilers have full CE approval and meet all statutory requirements and approvals.
Technical support
In addition to supplying boilers, Atlantic provides back up commissioning, spares and servicing by way of a network of merchants throughout the UK.
Projects
Atlantic has supplied condensing and high-efficiency boilers to many universities, hotels, hospitals, social care buildings, leisure centres, offices and housing developments.
