Boilers, domestic, gas-fired, solar optionOverview
Atmos domestic boilers are well-established products manufactured in Holland. The range provides a solution for 95% of all homes, plus the option of solar hot water for reducing carbon emissions. Latest in Atmos’s range is the Combinair, a product that integrates an air-source heat pump and a condensing gas boiler into a single unit. An easy to install indoor unit, the Combinair provides a low carbon domestic heating solution for Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Solar hot-water systems
A full range of solar products is offered by Atmos.
- SolarCombi: domestic system with 100 litres thermal store, a solar panel 2.75m², alternative sizes and a 30kW condensing gas combination boiler. 26kW heat output, hot-water flow rates up to 18 litres/min.
- TwinSolar: from 150 to 300 litres storage capacity, 4 to 10m² of solar panels.
- Large-scale solar-heating systems: designed to customer needs, includes computer-simulated performance to calculate solar yield in kW/h. Communal systems available.
Atmos Combinair air-source heat pump system
This brand new product comprises a 2.5kW air-source heat pump, coupled with a condensing gas combination boiler, providing additional space heating and hot water. The air-source heat pump can provide up to 50% of the space heating energy through the year. The air is taken from the mechanical ventilation extract system of the house and mixed with outside air, so that 100% of the heat is recovered from the extract air, resulting in a higher SAP rating. This unit is best suited to underfloor heating systems but can also be used with a low temperature radiator system.
- Condensing gas boiler, space heating 7 to 26kW, and 30kW to hot water (12 litres/min).
- Air-source heat pump up to 3kW output, COP of 3.5.
- Works with extract ventilation system, and more efficient than mechanical heat recovery systems.
- Lower carbon emissions mean higher SAP ratings.
- Solar hot water can reduce carbon emissions further.
Communal Flue System (CFS)
The CFS is a vertical air-flue system which eliminates difficult installation of horizontal systems and unsightly pluming from modern condensing boilers discharging from the side of the building. The CFS is built in the Netherlands and has been used successfully with condensing gas boilers for over a decade. Traditionally, SE duct systems have been used in the UK, but these are not suitable for condensing gas boilers. The CFS is manufactured from corrosion-resistant aluminum, specifically for condensing appliances. It can also be used with non-condensing boilers, or a mixture of both. Single stacks can have up to 24 boilers.
The CFS is available as a concentric or a twin pipe system, allowing flexibility for building consultants.
The naturally vented system utilizes the natural buoyancy of flue gases to remove the flue gas, and can be used with any fan-assisted boiler. The fan-assisted system utilizes the fan power of the boiler to assist the flue gases, and permits a smaller diameter pipe, which is beneficial where space is at a premium. This can be used with the Atmos CFS boilers, which have a higher fan power than most boilers, plus a built in non-return valve within the flue system. This NRV is a required additional safety measure for the fan assisted system.
Atmos Inter range
This range comprises three condensing gas boilers that have patented, robust cast-aluminium heat exchangers, with integral copper waterways. 10-year warranty.
- InterCombi HE32 combination boiler, space heating, 7 to 26kW, and 32kW to hot water (12.5 litres/min).
- InterSystem HE26 sealed-system boiler, 7 to 26kW for space heating and/or an indirect hot water tank.
- InterOpen HE22 open vented heating only boiler, 6 to 22kW.
Atmos Multi system
The Multi is the UK’s first condensing gas storage combi, a combined unit with an 80 litre unvented copper hot-water tank as well as an integral condensing gas boiler. Its compact construction and fast recovery hot-water tank make the Multi an ideal choice for homes which need plenty of hot water, but where space is limited. Suitable for homes with 2 bathrooms or 3 showers, the Multi can be supplied with components for on-site assembly, or with prefabricated pipework. Installation time is reduced by 50%.
- Multi 24/80 Plus: heat output of 7 to 22kW, hot-water recovery, 12mins.
- Multi 32/80 Plus: heat output of 10 to 30kW, hot-water recovery, 10mins.
- Multi 38/80 Plus: heat output of 12 to 35kW, hot-water recovery, 9mins.
