Flat-to-pitch conversion systems: Ashjack™, Ashrail™

Problems associated with failed flat roofs caused by weathering membrane failure can be solved permanently by conversion to a pitched roof. Ashjack™ flat-to-pitch roof conversion structures are lightweight, long life and easy to install, evenly spreading new loads onto the existing structural elements.

Where water ingress has persisted, resulting in a higher degree of structural damage to timber or similar roof structures, Ashjack can be adapted to provide a support system which will impose loads only on sound structural elements.

Where the complete roof structure has only enough strength to support its own dead weight, such as high-alumina element structures or long-span woodwool roofs, Ashjack will provide a full, free spanning, trussed solution imposing new loading only upon the perimeter walls of the building.

Materials are dispatched to site partly assembled, with adjustability of all components as standard. Once in place, the structure can be completed by the addition of cladding to the specifier’s choice.

Traditional profiled cladding systems in steel or aluminium, tile-effect cladding, batten seam cladding, standing-seam systems, slates and concrete tiles, and thatching, have been used to rejuvenate buildings.

All Ashjack structures are designed by fully trained and qualified engineers to current Building Regulations and standards. New software optimises Ashjack designs, improving turnaround of estimates, designs and detailed drawings.

Ashjack systems are also ideal for new-build projects, providing a lightweight alternative to timber trusses or hot-rolled sections.

Composition and manufacture

All Ashjack structures are fabricated from pre-galvanised, high-yield structural steel to Z350 specification and to Ashjack’s own range of structural profiles: Ashrail™. These are also available to clients as alternatives to traditional cold-rolled purlins, timber battens or hot-rolled steel components.

Sitework

Ashjack has appointed a select team of UK installers, who conform to a stringent Ashjack Appointed Installer Code of Practice. Installers must undergo a thorough training course. The Code is wide-ranging and allows Ashjack representatives to visit a site without notice. Installers are also bound by the requirements of the new Ashjack latent defects insurance warranty.
