The Glassplan range from Alco Beldan is a remarkable new innovation that can transform commercial and residential properties. For many years, traditional patio doors or double-glazed systems have played a useful and important role, yet their size and inflexibility can often be a limiting factor when there is a desire to really open up an area.

In recent years, across Europe and more recently in the UK, these new forms of glazed walls and doors are increasing in popularity. The Glassplan range, ideal for use as shopfronts and entrance screens, and in shopping malls, restaurants, golf clubs, swimming pools and conservatories, maximises the use of space and creates inviting access.

Clear walls provide the security and warmth of solid walls or double-glazed doors yet, when opened, transform wide areas previously cut off or inaccessible.

Composition and manufacture

The aluminium profiles used in the manufacture of the panels are robustly constructed to meet the requirements of stress group C, in accordance with DIN 18055. Profile depths vary across the range with two systems offering the benefit of thermally insulated profiles. Glazing profiles are retained to facilitate replacement should the need arise.

The profiles have flush surfaces and the system moves on an integrated running and directional track. Floor track can be partly, or completely, set into the floor depending on the choice of profile.

Each system has a range of features and offers options for folding inside or outside. Operation is simple, yet the system provides the benefit of optimum burglar protection.

The timber systems are also available for either internal or external use. The finish can be varnished to its natural state or, alternatively, stained and sealed to the client’s specifications.

Construction, material selection and craftsmanship guarantee that, even after many years of regular use, these folding panels run just as easily as when brand new. This high quality standard applies to all aspects of the product.
