Rainscreen cladding

Alcan has developed a number of different rainscreen systems. The flexibility of the material means cladding systems can be very simple, face-fixed boards, or fully-engineered, secret-fix tray panels. Almost any shape and size is possible, up to a maximum of 1,750 x 6,000mm.

As a result of its laminated structure, Alucobond® is a true flat material, and does not show any rippling or oil-canning. The coating that is applied in Alcan’s own manufacturing plant is a coil-coat system, the major benefits of this system being a uniformity of coating and total colour consistency. This is particularly important when metallic colours are being used.

Composition and manufacture

Alucobond® systems can be fixed to masonry, steel or timber structures. The company has a network of specialist fabricators who not only supply the chosen system, but will also actively aid with the design. The fabricators understand the principles of rainscreen cladding, and have many years of experience in working with Alucobond®.

Size and weight

It is possible, on request, to supply panels up to 1,750 x 6,000mm. However, for practical reasons, panels are normally supplied in sizes up to 1,400 x 4,000mm. The panels can be linear or curved. The low weight of Alucobond® makes it ideal for new build or over-cladding.

Sitework

As Alucobond® is a pre-coated material, once it is supplied to a fabricator, there is very little delay in delivering panels to site.
