Composite wall panelsAlucobond® is a product of Alcan Singen GmbH. The company was set up in 1912 when it began manufacturing rolled and extruded aluminium semi-finished products.
Alucobond® was launched in 1969 and since then 80 million m2 has been sold worldwide.
The material is suitable for cladding applications on a wide range of buildings including: offices, airports, banks, hospitals, schools, shops and petrol stations.
Alucobond® has been awarded BBA Certificate no 05/4214.
Composition and manufacture
The composite material is rigid; resistant to blows, breakage and pressure; and has high bending and buckling strengths.
The PVDF finishes used on Alucobond® are obtained in a continuous coil-coating process on a modern paint line. The stoving of the paints at temperatures between 240 and 270°C ensures the excellent durability of these surface finishes. The whole process, including a thorough quality control of the paint finishes, is carried out in accordance with European Coil-Coating Association (ECCA) standards.
Alucobond® finishes are extremely weather and fade resistant, even when exposed to a highly industrialised and polluted atmosphere. Due to the use of high-quality PVDF lacquers, the pre-painted panels can be bent and shaped without the surface finish being adversely affected.
Performance
Rigidity of 4mm Alucobond® is 0.24kNm2/m.
Sound insulation to DIN 4109: the average airborne sound transmission loss (R) of 4mm Alucobond® is 25dB. Frequency range 100 to 3,200Hz.
Vibration dampening to DIN 53400: the loss factor (frequency 200Hz) of 4mm Alucobond® is 0.0087. The loss factor is approximately six times better than that of solid aluminium sheets.
Temperature resistance: from -50 to 80°C.
Sitework
Alucobond® can be installed using a variety of fixing systems including face-fixed riveted boards, secret-fixed cassettes and hook-on panels.
