Promoting cycling
Autopa manufactures a wide variety of cycle storage and security products. Autopa believes that by providing adequate,
well-positioned and user-friendly cycle storage, travelling by bicycle can be promoted. Road traffic is a major source of pollution. Cycling instead of using other forms of transport helps reduce carbon emissions and pollutants in the air. Cycling also helps reduce noise, traffic congestion, economic cost of traffic delays, and helps protect green spaces, monuments and buildings from adverse effects of pollution.
Autopa supplies cycle storage and security equipment for most applications from individual cycle stands to large fully enclosed compounds. Products are suitable for a variety of applications, from schools to shopping centres and train stations.
Product life expectancy
A high percentage of Autopa’s products are made of mild steel. Autopa recommends all mild steel products exposed to the elements are fully galvanised. Many other coatings are available but offer a more limited protection; paint can be chipped, powder and plastic coating can be cut and damage to the outer protection then leaves steel exposed to the elements and allows corrosion. Galvanising is a metallurgical reaction which creates a chemical bond to the steel; it is even self-healing if scratched. Galvanising therefore greatly expands the life of a product by preventing corrosion, therefore meaning products need to be replaced much less often. All of Autopa’s mild steel products are galvanised finished as standard.
Environmentally friendly products
Autopa has manufactured and supplied a variety of products in recycled plastic: bollards, hazard markers, benches and picnic tables. The solid plastic is 100% recycled mixed consumer waste, is highly durable and does not rot or corrode. These features mean it has an extremely long life, making replacements less frequent, which in turn makes it not only environmentally friendly but also cost-effective. If the time comes for the product to be replaced, the material can again be recycled.
