Street furniture: VasartThe highly distinctive range of Italian Vasart co-ordinated street furniture combines various aggregates to form stylish seats, planters, litter bins and bollards. Material composition and design criteria combine to create furniture of a very high standard with a high resistance to vandalism.
Seats: a variety of seats and benches of generous proportions in the basic composite material have additional features in hardwood and galvanised/stainless steel. The latest Tribune model is 4,000mm long and weighs 1,500kg.
Planters: planters are in many shapes and sizes, with many of the larger units incorporating ring bolts to aid movement and positioning. Larger units also incorporate self-levelling to 10°. A large proportion of planters include internal waterproofing and watering systems to facilitate their use inside buildings.
Litter bins: a range of capacities from 30 to 150 litres in various designs, including internal hot-dip galvanised containers. Some have an ashtray incorporated.
Bollards: cylindrical and round bollards in materials matching the seats and planters are suitable for defining parking or pedestrian areas. Bollards are equipped with ring bolts for ease of movement and for linking with horizontal chains.
Composition and manufacture
The cement-based material is a low-alloy calcium and aggregate composed of marble grit (Veneto and Trentino) at a calibrated grain size which is able to provide hardness without forming micro-crevices.
Synthetic staples offer resistance to fracture or cracking. The compaction of the aggregates and the bonding action of the cement also protects the material from damage during periods of severe cold. Steel reinforcements are hot-dip galvanised. During the production process, formwork is vibrated at a high frequency, optimising the compaction of aggregates.
Following traditional handicraft techniques, trimming is achieved by using a bush hammer which ensures the natural colours and smooth gradients. Some parts are sand-blasted to give some accentuation to the product. Some flat seating is treated with a polychrome finish to facilitate the rapid dispersal of rain.
Appearance
Five colours of a natural appearance are available: Pink, Grey, Green, Yellow, and Salt and Pepper.
