Road blockers and bollardsAvon road blockers and bollards provide a high level of security against unauthorised vehicle access. Designed to withstand direct impact forces, the blockers and bollards provide protection to sites from extreme Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) attack.
Avon’s road blockers and bollards are the ideal products to protect high security establishments, iconic buildings and critical infrastructures. These products have been independently, structurally evaluated by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) and also physically tested in a number of full-scale crash tests conducted in accordance with Government PAS 68 standards.
The RB680, RB780CR, RB880CR and RB980CR road blockers are operated by hydraulic rams with power pack controls positioned locally or remotely within an external-rated cabinet. Access control equipment can be fitted to suit user requirements.
The company’s crash tested anti-ram road blockers and anti-ram bollards are approved for use by the UK Government.
Composition and manufacture
Road blockers are manufactured from a heavy welded-steel section, sufficient in strength to exceed DTP axle loads. The blocker mechanism is encased in a sheet-steel enclosure. The RB780CR is further encased by concrete for maximum strength.
The RB880CR and RB980CR road blockers have shallow and surface-mounted foundations for use where deep foundations are impractical or not possible.
The SB970CR bollard is made from heavy-gauge material.
Size and weight
The Avon RB680 blocker is available in segment heights up to 350 and 700mm, with the RB780CR, RB880CR and RB980CR crash-rated blockers having a raise height of 800 and 1,000mm.
The SB970CR bollard has a raised height of 1,000mm.
Appearance
The RB680, RB780CR RB880CR and RB980CR heavy-duty lumber top plate is coated with safety markings.
Performance
Avon Barrier Company manufactures a range of products which have been fully-physically crash tested at resisting the impact of an 7,500kg lorry traveling at 80kph. Products continued to work after these tests.
