Flexible floor tiles/sheets: Altro Safety FlooringAltro high-performance safety flooring is available in a wide range of colours and grades, offering a high degree of long-term slip resistance and hygiene, with excellent resistance to wear and chemical attack. The flooring is covered by a range of product warranties and carries quality-approved certificates issued by the British Board of Agrément and The Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene.
Composition and manufacture
Altro Safety Flooring is normally a combination of plasticised vinyl, aluminium-oxide grains and silicon carbide grains, with glass-fibre reinforcement. Most grades also incorporate coloured-quartz aggregates.

Appearance
All colour pigments used by Altro provide a flooring which exceeds the requirements of BS EN 649. Improved appearance retention is provided by Altro Maxis for some products, in addition to Altro’s Easyclean technology.
Performance
Hygiene is maintained due to an integral bacteriostat and the impervious nature of the flooring. The exposed surface has excellent anti-bacterial activity against microorganisms, proved by a halo test. The test involves placing samples face down onto agar inoculated with the test organism. After incubation the presence of a zone of clearing in the agar growth around the test sample indicates microbial inhibition or kill. The organism usually tested is MRSA.
Environment
All Altro safety flooring products have achieved the highest possible A+ rating under the new 2008 Green Guide to Specification in the majority of product applications. All of Altro’s safety flooring is 100% recyclable and contains recycled content as an integral raw material. Altro is the only safety flooring manufacturer with the facility to recycle safety flooring in-house.
