Abacus manufactures a range of lanterns, from bollards, floodlights and bulkheads, through to high performance luminaires more suitable for open areas, car parks, pedestrian areas and other locations.
The Concept Lighting range offers three themes, styled to complement the architecture of the built environment for a particular era. The classic range reflects the architecture of the early 20th Century; the retro range marks the garden cities of the 1950s, 60s and 70s; the contemporary range comprises two luminaire designs to complement the modern built environment. A range of high-cone luminaires blends with the environment, whilst contrasting colours and sophisticated bracket designs, available with the low-cone range, create an individual look.
Luminaires comprise a die-cast aluminium central chassis, canopy and trim in spun aluminium, plastic bezel and polycarbonate or glass bowl, depending on version specified. Andromeda has a contemporary-styled curved bracket, whilst Cassiopeia has a civic presence, with a distinct tripod design. Both luminaires comprise a cast-aluminium lighting unit and front bezel, incorporating a brightened aluminium-faceted reflector, with the reflector canopy supported by a cast-aluminium bracket. The lighting unit and bracket arms are finished in a textured polyester powder coating, available in a range of RAL colours. The reflector canopy incorporates the Moonlight Reflector System, a multifaceted reflector, providing precise control of reflected light, whilst both luminaires are fitted with the latest metal-halide and ceramic discharge light sources.
Sitework
Abacus Lighting offers a free lighting-design service to its customers. This involvement can be limited to the design and supply of the equipment or extended to a total turn-key package, including installation and commissioning.
Environment
In 2002, Abacus Lighting was awarded accreditation as a BS EN IS0 14001:1991 Registered Company, reflecting its commitment to protecting the environment. This standard specifies requirements for establishing an environmental policy, and a management system to minimise the impact the company’s operations have on the environment.
