IChemE
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IchemE) is an international professional membership organization to award Chartered Chemical Engineering status - allowing individuals to display letters (MIChemE CEng) after their name as a further qualification. This is an internationally recognizable qualification enhancing the prospects of those individuals and, indeed, organizations.
Their mission
IChemE is the hub for chemical, biochemical and process engineering professionals worldwide. We are the heart of the process community, promoting competence and a commitment to sustainable development, advancing the discipline for the benefit of society and supporting the professional development of members.
Status
Founded in 1922 as a professional institution for chemical and process engineers, IChemE has grown to its current status of a 27,000 international membership across more than 113 countries.
Future
As well as promoting the advancement of chemical engineering science and practice within the profession, IChemE aims to increase the public recognition of chemical engineering, both in terms of what chemical and process engineers do and the benefits that their work brings to society.
IChemE actively develops and raises standards in education with the accrediting of 60 higher education establishments internationally (over half outside the UK). Encouragement is also given to our membership to develop their knowledge and skills through programmes of continuing professional development.
