CPD Seminars 2009: Health & Safety Penalties and Risk Assessment
The introduction of the Health & Safety (Offences) Act 2008 will alter the way in which individuals may be punished for negligence of health & safety responsibilities and includes larger fines and the threat of imprisonment. Businesses and organisations must also be aware of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 under which companies and organisations can be found guilty of corporate manslaughter.
The Barbour CPD seminars took place in April 09 in London and Manchester. Delegates were made aware of the implications and how the legislation could affect them and their business, ensuring they are prepared if the worst should happen. The seminar also covered how to take an integrated management approach to risk assessment and how this process can save time and save lives.

REACH Explained 2008
REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) is a major piece of legislation concerned with the way chemicals are manufactured, used and managed. The new REACH regulations are highly complex and can be demanding, time consuming and expensive for companies to effectively interpret and implement.
The Barbour seminars took place in October/November 08 in London, Birmingham and Leeds. Delegates that attended found these a useful insight in to the new legislation and of help as they begin to navigate their way through the lengthy but necessary process for compliance.
