Asbestos Management Webinar
On the 30th July we held our latest webinar on Asbestos Management. It covered ‘Duty-holders’ responsibilities under Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, The duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises.
We discussed effective Asbestos Management processes, the requirement for a written Asbestos Management Plan, Training of staff, surveying of premises and the identification of Asbestos Containing Materials, compilation of asbestos registers and the dissemination of the information to interested parties.
It also incorporated
the control of contractors, and focused on the client’s responsibility to identify pre-existing hazards during large refurbishment / building projects notified under the Construction (Design Management) Regulations 2007.
Health & Safety Penalties and Risk Assessment
On the 30th April Barbour covered
the introduction of the Health & Safety (Offences) Act 2008.
This act alters the way in which individuals may be punished for negligence of health & safety responsibilities and includes larger fines and the threat of imprisonment. Businesses and organisations must also be aware of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 under which companies and organisations can be found guilty of corporate manslaughter.
